Greetings family, and welcome the the Sound Booth. So, this space is just a place I can share with you all some of the music and art that has inspired me over the years and influenced my musical journey. This format was inspired by Howard Lawrence from Disclosure with his 'Slow Down With Howard' series. Love those guys! I'll post here as often as I can. Enjoy!

Well, the first musical influence I had was surely my father. The man had an incredible voice. I can sing pretty good, but not like that! As part of a male R&B duo in the early 70's, The Swordmen, Ray Thompson and Eddie Anderson, hit the scene when they were discovered by Nina Simone. After signing them to her label under RCA Victor, they toured with her for several years and recorded two albums. This song is one of my favorites. Never get tired of hearing daddy!

The Four Tops! They were always playing on my parents record player. As popular as they were, I don't think they got the recognition they deserved as one of the all time greatest male vocal groups of all time. The lead singer, Levi Stubbs, is supposedly a distant cousin of mine, but it's never been verified. This song, Bernadette was one I'd listen to over and over again. I particularly love the bass on this track.
